Matías Rossi: “I had to give everything”

Matías Rossi won the Super TC2000 qualifying race in Buenos Aires and the Toyota Gazoo Racing driver expects a demanding feature race on Sunday.

“I could see Canapino behind me was locking up lots of times. I wasn’t [locking up], but still, I had to give everything. That will be good for us in terms of tyre management,” said Rossi to TouringCarTimes.

Rossi won the race ahead of Chevrolet YPF driver Agustín Canapino and Renault Sport’s Facundo Ardusso.

And the Toyota driver mindful of how the longer race distance of tomorrow will affect tyre wear.

“I’m happy with today’s pace, the start was good and everything went on really well from there,” said Rossi, who will start from pole tomorrow as well.

“I could already see the cars were affected [by tyre wear] after 12 laps, we’ll see what happens after lap 15-20 tomorrow.”
