Toyota driver Matías Rossi claims first pole of 2020 in Buenos Aires

Matías Rossi of Toyota Gazoo Racing claimed the first pole position of the delayed 2020 Super TC2000 start in Buenos Aires ahead of the qualifying race.

The session was red-flagged early on as series rookie Hernán Palazzo of Toyota Gazoo Racing spun off track.

When the session was restarted Agustín Canapino of Chevrolet YPF climbed to the top of the time sheets with a lap time of 1:20.744.

Rossi went out for another attempt and grabbed pole position by a mere 0.036 seconds ahead of Canapino and 0.390 seconds Renault driver Facundo Ardusso.

Rookie driver Nicolás Moscardini surprised with a strong fourth place behind the wheel of his factory entered Honda Civic. Reigning champion Leonel Pernía completed the top five for Renault Sport.

Matías Milla claimed sixth position, just 0.021 behind his Renault team-mate Pernía.

Julián Santero of Toyota Gazoo Racing and Franco Girolami of Fiat Racing rounded off the top eight.

The qualifying race is scheduled for 15:25 local time, set for 12 laps or 25 minutes.
