Julián Santero praises Toyota Gazoo Racing following strong season opener

Toyota Gazoo Racing Argentina driver Julián Santero finished third in the Super TC2000 feature race in Buenos Aires and has praised the work of the team throughout the first race weekend of 2020.

“I’m really happy with the podium, great performance from the car and the team, so it’s a very strong beginning to work on,” said Santero to TouringCarTimes.

“My qualifying on Saturday was not so good, but I’m satisfied with the good performance of the car to recover both in the qualifying race and feature race. The pace was good, I was feeling really comfortable.”

When asked about the battle for the race win between his team-mate Matías Rossi and race winner Agustín Canapino of Chevrolet YPF, he commented: “There’s always a chance of a collision, but both Matías and Agustín are masterclass drivers, they’d never end up like that.”

“Toyota and Chevrolet looked good this weekend, but Renault will be a contender too. We must wait a couple of rounds until we have a clear view on how is the field in 2020,” he concluded.
