Norbert Michelisz: “It will be a long night to solve our problems”

Home hero Norbert Michelisz admits that his BRC Racing team has “long night ahead” to resolve the issues that hampered his challenge on Saturday at the Hungaroring.

The reigning World Touring Car Cup champion was left down in 16th place after a difficult day at the wheel of his Hyundai i30 N TCR, with a misfire hampering his chances of trying to fight further up the order.

Michelisz now faces a difficult day on track on Sunday to try and salvage some solid points from race day in his bid to move towards the top ten in the standings, with the Hungarian insisting that his team would work hard to ensure his car was fighting fit.

“I’m still excited about tomorrow,” he said. “Okay, so we are in a bad position, but we can do clever races to score some points and gather information. You can see I’m not happy about today and I will spend a few hours tonight looking at how to improve tomorrow.

“We need to find the core of the problem, and it will be a long night to solve the issues that we have. The problem today is that things are very tight between the sessions and you can’t just change an engine between FP2 and qualifying, even if have an issue.

“We realised there was something wrong this morning and tried to solve it, but didn’t succeed.”
