WTCR move season finale from Adria Raceway

The World Touring Car Cup promoter Eurosport Events has confirmed that the season finale at Adria International Raceway on November 14-15 will be moved to a new venue.

Construction works being carried out to extend the Italian circuit have been delayed as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, leaving the series organisers with no option but to look for a new home for the final round.

The replacement venue is yet to be confirmed, with Eurosport Events issuing the following statement:

“Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and its consequences on the progress of the construction of the track extension, we acknowledge that Adria International Raceway is not in a position to host WTCR Race of Italy from November 13-15 as planned.

“The decision has been made following the official inspection of the track extension yesterday. Eurosport Events is working with the FIA on different options for the final round of the 2020 WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup on the same date. Details of the venue will be announced as soon as possible.”

Rumours have indicated that MotorLand Aragon or Imola could be possible replacements.
