Mikel Azcona labels home race win in Spain “incredible”
Mikel Azcona won the second race of his home race weekend in Spain and was happy to score Zengo Motorsport’s first WTCR victory.
“When you have a victory in WTCR, in a world championship, you always feel good,” said Azcona.
“It’s the first victory for Zengő Motorsport after five years so it’s the best for my team. It’s been incredible – incredible weekend for us, incredible day and incredible second race.”
But the Spaniard was sad to claim his victory in front of empty spectator stands due to the coronavirus pandemic.
“To win here in Spain in my home it’s a bit shit because we don’t have the people, the family and the friends. But anyway I had all the support from social media and it’s been incredible,” said Azcona.
The Cupra driver has moved up to a joint sixth position in the drivers’ championship with Santiago Urrutia.
