Rob Huff confident of fresh opportunities with Zengo

Rob Huff returns to the WTCR in 2021 after a one-year absence, driving a Cupra Leon Competición from Zengo Motorsport.

The 2012 world champion is feeling confident with his new car and team ahead of the new season, which kicks off this weekend in Germany.

“Sadly, I couldn’t find any opportunities for 2020 and I realised how much I missed the championship,” Huff told TouringCarTimes. “I think I’ve driven for everyone in the paddock but is good to be back with a Cupra and Zengo. The deal came at the last minute but I’m happy to be back.”

Zengo Motorsport has come a long way and faces its second season as the squad of choice for Cupra, an important step ahead for the Hungarian outfit.

“Zengo has grown massively, they are still like a big family but also very professional,” Huff added. “My first impression was that these guys had done a great job, and there are also the Cupra engineers working full time with the team.

“They gave me a strong feeling straight away and I think Cupra has done a great job with the car.”

Huff will partner within the team with Spanish driver Mikel Azcona, who is also a Cupra driver in the ETCR and has competed – and won – in several championships with the manufacturer.

“The car is the same as last year,” explained Azcona to TouringCarTimes. “But a year ago it was new out-of-the-box for the first race and we worked step by step with the setup and did a big job to improve ourselves.

“Last year we were battling really strong and didn’t stop working, because all race meetings were like a test, so I think we are in a very good position.”
