Nathanaël Berthon continues Audi dominance at Motorland Aragón

Comtoyou Racing driver Nathanaël Berthon topped the second free practice session at Motorland Aragón ahead of Zengo Motorsport’s Mikel Azcona, further underlining the resurge of Audi and Cupra this weekend.

Berthon set a best lap time of 2:06.181 in a session slower than the morning’s first free practice, due to the rising temperatures.

Azcona improved in his last attempt to be second, 0.166 seconds from Berthon, with Yann Ehrlacher two-tenths behind the Frenchman for Cyan Racing in third.

Thed Björk completed another solid session in fourth place at the wheel of the Lynk & Co 03 TCR, 0.256 seconds behind Berthon.

Norbert Michelisz finished fifth for BRC Hyundai, 0.273 seconds off the pace, followed by Engstler Hyundai driver Luca Engstler, 0.289 seconds adrift.

Gilles Magnus finished seventh for Comtoyou Racing, followed by Santiago Urrutia.

Rob Huff improved his morning’s pace to finish in ninth position at the wheel of his Cupra Leon Competición from Zengo Motorsport, with Yvan Muller (Lynk & Co 03 TCR) completing the top ten, half a second from P1.

Standings leader Jean-Karl Vernay could only manage 12th place, with Munnich Motorsport’s Néstor Girolami and Esteban Guerrieri (Honda Civic Type R TCR) in 16th and 17th respectively.

The qualifying session is scheduled for 16:30 CEST.
