Santiago Urrutia rues “mistake” that ruined his qualifying
Lynk & Co Cyan Racing driver Santiago Urrutia states it was “a mistake” during Saturday’s qualifying session at Motorland that cost him going through to Q2. The Uruguayan, who is placed second overall, will start both races from 13th spot on the grid.
Urrutia went off track briefly during his final run and missed out on the Q2 session by just six-thousandths of a second.
“The qualifying was a difficult one for me,” Urrutia said after the session.
“I made a mistake, so we start both races from P13. We have to fight from the back and see if we can finish in the top ten in both races and score points. Now we have to look forward to tomorrow.”
Fellow Cyan Racing Lynk & Co driver Yvan Muller also missed his qualifying target of taking the reverse grid pole position for Race 1, with the four-time champion finishing the session in 11th place.
“I was playing for tenth place during the session as it would have been to hard to play for the pole position,” Muller explained. “Unfortunately, we made a mistake and we are P11 for both races, so we have to see what we can do tomorrow.”
