Santiago Urrutia leads tight second free practice at Pau Arnos
Cyan Racing’s Santiago Urrutia set the fastest lap time in a very tight second free practice session at the Pau Arnos circuit, host of the sixth WTCR round.
Zengo Motorsport’s Mikel Azcona spun off the track on his first flying lap at Turn 1, with the Spaniard returning to the pits for checks.
Münnich Motorsport’s Néstor Girolami also went wide and run over the gravel trap, with Gilles Magnus of Comtoyou Racing going wide at Turn 3,
Urrutia climbed to the top with a lap time of 1:19.295, beating Münnich Motorsport’s Néstor Girolami (Honda Civic) by just 0.047 seconds and team-mate Yvan Muller by 0.087.
Audi driver Nathanáel Berthon was fourth, followed by Norbert Michelisz (Hyundai Elantra N TCR) and the Lyn & Co.’s of Yann Ehrlacher and Thed Björk, with the Swede 0.276 seconds off the pace.
The flying Dutchman Tom Coronel was eighth, followed by Gabriele Tarquini (Hyundai Elantra N TCR) and Frédéric Vervisch completing the top ten, 0.395 seconds from the top time.
The qualifying session kicks off at 16:00 CEST.
