French WTCR race could move to Pau street circuit in 2022

The FIA World Touring Car Cup looks set to move the French round of the 2022 calendar to the Circuit de Pau-Ville street circuit.

The WTCR visited the Pau-Arnos permanent circuit for the sixth round of the 2021 season, in a revised calendar after the Asian leg of the championship had to be dropped due to the current COVID traveling restrictions.

Officials from the Pau street circuit were seen at the race during this weekend, which enjoyed a double WTCR and ETCR programme and was open for spectators.

“We are not currently commenting on any calendar information for next year,” a WTCR spokesman said at TouringCarTimes’ request.

The WTCC visited the Pau street circuit from 2007 to 2009, with Alain Menu claiming the win for Chevrolet in the last race held there which included the infamous crash between Franz Engstler and the safety car.
