Esteban Guerrieri says missing Q3 by 0.001 seconds “hurts”

Esteban Guerrieri missed the Q3 session by just a thousand of a second in the final WTCR qualifying of 2021 at Sochi, ending up in sixth position – right behind title rival Yann Ehrlacher.

“It would have been good to be in Q3 and to just miss it by one thousand hurts a bit,” said Guerrieri.

“But in the end, being in the top ten is a good job.”

The Münnich Motorsport driver is placed third in the standings, trailing points leader Yann Ehrlacher by 38 points with 50 left from the two races tomorrow.

“All-in-all with Néstor [Girolami] P3 and me P6, we can still do some good races tomorrow,” said Guerrieri.

“A competitive day, I think we are probably better in wet conditions than with slicks. I hope it stays wet like this, that would make it a bit more ‘shuffling the cards’ like I was saying.”
