Attila Tassi satisfied with strong race at Sochi

Münnich Motorsport’s Attila Tassi said he was happy after a strong race at Sochi saw him claim his second-best result of the year and finish the 2021 WTCR season on a positive note.

The Hungarian started from the twelfth spot on the grid but was lucky to survive a collision with Comtoyou Racing’s Gilles Magnus at the start.

Tassi didn’t suffer serious damage and was able to continue with his race, fighting for the podium and ultimately crossing the line in fifth position.

“What a weekend to finish the season,” said Tassi after the race. “Missing out on Q2 on Saturday was a bit disappointing, but I was really happy today when I saw the rain.

“I had an excellent start in race two but lost momentum when someone closed the door on me, but even so, I was seventh by the end of the lap. Afterwards, I was confident with where the grip was again.

“It’s a great way to end a hard season for myself, so thanks to the team and Honda; despite some difficulties, it was still a good year.”

Tassi ends the season 14th in the standings.
