BRC Racing unveils 2022 WTCR livery

The BRC Racing team has revealed the livery that it will run in the 2022 World Touring Car Cup season as the sole Hyundai-backed entry.

With Engstler Motorsport switching to Honda for the new campaign, BRC will fly the flag for the Korean manufacturer with a two-car entry, with former champion Norbert Michelisz being joined by newcomer Mikel Azcona.

The two Elantra N TCRs will run in Hyundai Motorsport’s traditional red, dark blue and performance blue colours, with the livery being an evolution of the one that featured on the cars in 2021. The Lukoil branding seen on the cars in recent seasons is no longer featured.

The livery broke cover in a special live event at the Palazzo Salmatoris in Cherasco, near to BRC Racing’s workshop, with focus now turning to preparing for the start of the new campaign on the streets of Pau in early May.

“The live event in Cherasco was a great way to officially launch our customer’s WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup season with the Hyundai Elantra N TCR and Norbert Michelisz and Mikel Azcona,” Hyundai Motorsport deputy team principal Julien Moncet said. “BRC Hyundai N Squadra Corse obviously have a great driver line-up for the year and being part of the event was a great opportunity to meet with Gabriele Rizzo and the rest of the team as they continue their preparations for the season.

“With our Customer Racing support engineers, they have been able to complete some all-important testing in the last few months which will be invaluable when the racing starts. The WTCR grid is always incredibly close and the margins of victory are very tight.

“The extra work the team and both drivers have done, together with the added year of experience with the Elantra N TCR after 2021, will hopefully put Hyundai cars at the front of the pack when the racing gets underway.”

Michelisz will once again run the #5 during 2022, with Azcona continuing to race as #96.
