Santiago Urrutia leads Lynk & Co 1-2 in first Pau-Ville free practice

Cyan Performance Lynk & Co’s Santiago Urrutia set the fastest lap in the opening free practice session at Pau-Ville, host of the first WTCR round of 2022, ahead of manufacturer colleague Yann Ehrlacher.

Urrutia set a best lap time of 1:20.160 in the closing minutes of the session with his Lynk & Co 03 TCR, 0.489 seconds ahead of reigning champion Ehrlacher.

Honda driver Néstor Girolami of Münnich Motorsport was third, with Cyan Racing’s Yvan Muller right behind in fourth, seven tenths of a second behind.

The BRC Hyundai duo was next, with Norbert Michelisz and Mikel Azcona in positions five and six. Esteban Guerrieri was seventh as the second fastest Honda driver.

Thed Björk completed the session in eight place with the Lynk & Co 03 TCR ahead of Attila Tassi of Engstler Motorsport. Ma Qing Hua completed the top ten, driving the fifth Lynk & Co of Cyan Racing, 1.6 seconds off the pace.

The second free practice session is scheduled for 14:50 CEST.
