Late effort puts Yann Ehrlacher on top of second Aragon practice
Cyan Racing driver Yann Ehrlacher (Lynk & Co 03 TCR) put in a late fastest lap time to top the second free practice FIA WTCR session at Motorland Aragon.
The reigning champion lapped the Spanish circuit in 2:05.579, beating BRC Motorsport’s Norbert Michelisz (Hyunda Elantra N TCR) by 0.286 seconds.
Santiago Urrutia took his Lynk & Co 03 TCR to third place, 0.296 seconds behind his team-mate, ahead of points leader Mikel Azcona of Hyundai.
Cyan Racing’s Yvan Muller suffered a damaged rim after hitting a kerb, with the Frenchman losing track time. Despite the issue, Muller finished the session in fifth place, ahead of Audi RS 3 LMS drivers Mehdi Bennani and Tom Coronel, with the Dutch driver eight-tenths off the pace.
Zengo Motorsport’s Dániel Nagy, Comtoyou Racing’s Gilles Magnus and Cyan Racing’s Thed Björk completed the top ten, with the Swede being 1.1 seconds behind Ehrlacher.
The Honda drivers were just as in FP1 at the bottom of the classification, with Esteban Guerrieri as their top driver in 13th position.
The qualifying session is scheduled for 15:30 CEST.
