Dániel Nagy: “I enjoyed the battle with the Lynk & Cos”

Zengo Motorsport driver Dániel Nagy drove a strong Race 2 at Motorland Aragón to secure his so far best result of 2022 with fourth position, rounding off a good weekend for the team with Rob Huff again finishing on the podium.

“I was enjoying the first couple of laps and those after the restart of the safety car period,” Nagy told TouringCarTimes. “I was going for it because I knew I had the only chance to win the race.

“I was pushing maybe a little bit too hard in the beginning, we have to see what caused the disadvantage in the front tyres, because they were dropping really quickly but, after that, I let Huffy go through to get the team result.”

The team has been steadily improving their performance through the season, with Nagy upbeat to be contributing to the good results: “P2 and P4 is an amazing result for Zengo Motorsport. We started so late, didn’t have any tests or anything, so it’s truly an amazing result for the whole team.”

Nagy had to fight hard with the Lynk & Cos from Yann Ehrlacher, Ma Qing Hua and Yvan Muller, but managed to fend them off to finish in fourth place.

“When they caught me in the beginning I though it was going to be a tough one to defend and Urrutia could overtake me,” said Nagy.

“But I was trying to cool the tyres a little bit, and it was a fair and hard battle with Yann and this was the first time I was battling with these guys, so pretty good experience.”

Team boss Zoltan Zengo was ecstatic after the race: “I’m so happy we did it, we’ve worked so hard and here we are, the results are coming!”
