Yann Ehrlacher exhausted but pleased with team result after qualifying

Cyan Racing driver Yann Ehrlacher secured third place on the grid for Race 1 at Motorland Aragón behind the wheel of his Lynk & Co 03 TCR after what the reigning champion described as a tough qualifying session.

“I was really exhausted after the qualifying in Aragon,” said Ehrlacher. “Going through the qualifying stages in this heat is quite tough.”

The reigning champion was however satisfied with the overall result for the team: “Still, we made it into Q3 with two cars and Ma also got the reverse grid pole position, so this is very good for Cyan Racing.”

Santiago Urrutia missed Q3 by 0.014 seconds and will start sixth for the first race: “We finished the qualifying, it was decent. I start P5 and P6 in the races, and this is a good position to collect the points.

“I missed Q3 by very little, but what can we do, this is racing sometimes and the main thing is to collect important points for the team, especially as the Hondas are behind us.”

Ehrlacher was the only driver in the top of the championship to score points in the qualifying session, now in fourth position overall, just two points behind Urrutia and 18 away from Hyundai’s Mikel Azcona.
