Norbert Michelisz reprimanded for limping back to the pits

BRC Motorsport driver Norbert Michelisz has been reprimanded for returning to the pits on three wheels after his incident in the second FIA WTCR free practice session at Vila Real.

The Hungarian hit the barrier at Turn 9, damaging his Hyundai Elantra N TCR’s front right wheel and suspension. Michelisz then limped back to the pit lane.

The stewards found that Michelisz infringed Art. 12.2.1.i of the 2022 FIA International Sporting Code, contravening the indications from the race director’s notes, and that he should have stopped his car at the spot, instead of driving through the track to return to the pits on his own power.

The BRC Motorsport mechanics are expected to repair Michelisz’s car in time for the qualifying session at 17:05 WEST (CEST -1 hour).
