Brands Hatch next up for BTCC

Momentum is set to continue to build in the British Touring Car Championship title race this weekend as the series takes centre stage at Brands Hatch for Rounds 4, 5 & 6 of the 2026 season.

Hot on the heels of an action-packed opening meeting at Donington Park last month, the UK’s premier motorsport category descends on the Kent circuit with four-time champion Ash Sutton sitting at the top of the standings.

Despite starting his weekend at Donington Park in the gravel trap on Saturday, the Alliance Racing driver bounced back to claim two race wins and a second place to open up an 18-point lead over Charles Rainford.

While Sutton’s performance was sublime, the Ford Focus Titanium driver now has to contend with having a limited amount of TOCA Turbo Boost (TTB) at his disposal, owing to his lofty position in the points.

WSR’s Rainford enjoyed a strong start to his campaign with a podium being the highlight and having won at Brands Hatch at the corresponding round last year, he’ll be optimistic of making his mark in his BMW 330i M Sport.

Power Maxed Racing’s Aiden Moffat underlined that both he and the Audi S3 Saloon will be a force to be reckoned with this year, with the Scotsman sitting third in the points, narrowly ahead of podium finishers Dan Cammish and Gordon Shedden.

Moffat’s team-mates, Dexter Patterson and round one winner Mikey Doble, also sit inside the top ten as it stands and having shown plenty of speed during last month’s Season launch at Brands Hatch, both will be confident of challenging towards the front.

Elsewhere, reigning champion Tom Ingram will be hoping to ignite his title defence after endured a frustrating opening three rounds.

Showing plenty of speed in his Hyundai i30 Fastback, Ingram was hit with a time penalty, overboost infringement and alternator failure over the course of the weekend – meaning he left with a best finish of second in race three.

Sitting eighth in the standings, the EXCELR8 Motorsport driver will be eager to make use of the TTB he has available. So too will Ricky Collard and Adam Morgan who complete the top ten.

Beyond the top ten, Plato Racing’s Dan Rowbottom will look to challenge for outright honours once again while Speedworks Motorsport’s Josh Cook is aiming to bounce back from a tough curtain-raiser.

Other drivers that will be setting their sights high include the Speedworks Motorsport Toyota of Aron Taylor-Smith, the experienced Tom Chilton, Restart Racing’s James Dorlin and WSR’s Daryl De Leon.

Track action at Brands Hatch begins with practice at 10:35 on Saturday morning before qualifying and qualifying race commence at 14:00. Sunday sees three races staged; the first at 11:30, followed by race two at 14:45 and race three at 17:30.
