Ash Sutton out front as BTCC heads to Snetterton
The 2026 British Touring Car Championship season continues to pick up pace this weekend as the series moves to its most easterly and longest venue on the calendar, Snetterton.
Following the action-packed events of Donington Park and Brands Hatch in recent weeks, four-time champion Ash Sutton heads to the Norfolk track sitting atop the standings with a commanding 47-point lead.
The Alliance Racing driver has finished no lower than second in any round of the championship so far, and he’s guided his Ford Focus Titanium to the top step of the podium on three occasions already.
Keen to maintain his front-running form, Sutton will need to be at his brilliant best at Snetterton, especially given the fact that he will have to contend with the lowest amount of TOCA Turbo Boost of anyone during qualifying and race one.
Second in the points and looking to make up ground is reigning champion Tom Ingram. The EXCELR8 driver tallied his first win of the season last time out and will be hoping that more are on the way in his pursuit of Sutton.
Power Maxed Racing’s Mikey Doble fine start to the season with the all-new Audi A3 Saloon sees him occupy third in the standings; and he’ll have an extra spring in his step as it was at Snetterton last year where he scored a maiden BTCC win.
Ricky Collard meanwhile has put everyone on notice with three podiums in the opening six races, while Dan Cammish will look to ignite his championship challenge by adding to the solitary podium he has picked up so far.
Also sitting inside the top ten following the first two events is Aiden Moffat, Brands Hatch race winner Aron Taylor-Smith and the BMW duo of Charles Rainford and Daryl De Leon – both of whom could be forces to be reckoned with over the course of the weekend.
Others to watch out for – all with the maximum deployment of TOCA Turbo Boost – is the Toyota duo of Gordon Shedden and Josh Cook, and the Plato Racing Mercedes’ of Dan Rowbottom and Adam Morgan.
Track action at Snetterton begins with practice at 10:30 on Saturday morning before qualifying and qualifying race commence at 14:00. Sunday sees three races staged; the first at 11:30, followed by race two at 14:30 and race three at 17:20.
