The CTCC heads to Zhuhai for Round 2

The second round of China Touring Car Championship will be held on 29th May at the Zhuhai International Circuit (ZIC). The first of the racing circuits in mainland China built to Formula 1 standards.

The Super Production class was dominated by naturally aspired teams Kia 778 Racing and Chang’an Ford FRD at the first round, while the turbo class suffered heavily with mechanical failures.

With more than a month off for preparation after the first round at Shanghai, the turbo-class teams can show off their ultimate power in the second round, though Zhuhai is the ‘home circuit’ of all the current naturally aspirated teams.

At Shanghai, Martin Ma Qing Hu had claimed his first win in the China Production class, but the Haima Z1 Team was strong with second and fourth places in the first round.

This weekend’s race will also see the introduction of the new Hyundai Elantra for Cui Yue and Ziang Zhi Qiang, with fierce competition between the two factory teams will be expected.

The qualifying will be held at 14:00 (local time) on 28th May.
