Reduced grid heads to Korea for fourth round of the CTCC

The fourth round of the 2015 China Touring Car Championship takes place at the Korean International Circuit this weekend, but with Honda skipping the meeting, and with Volkswagen moved to the Cup class, the Super Production Class will be contested by just Ford and Kia in Korea.

After victory last time out at Shanghai’s Tianma circuit, Changan Ford FRD driver Andy Yan leads the standings on 25 points ahead of Kia pair of Jason Zhang and Jim Ka To on 17 and 16 respectively, with Henry Ho fourth in the standings for the Dong Feng Honda Racing Team.

Kia will be at their home race and chasing their first win since the opening round of the season in Guangdong with Jason Zhang, which didn’t count towards the championship. The Kias will lose compensation ballast this weekend and will be better placed to take the fight to Ford in South Korea.

Shanghai Volkwagen 333 Racing will be missing Han Han this weekend due to personal reasons as the team competes in the 2.0 litre turbo Cup class, while clashing commitments for Changan Ford FRD’s Darryl O’Young in the GT Asia series means the Hong Kong driver will be replaced by Macanese driver Kevin Tse this weekend in the SP Class.

Qualifying takes place at 14:30 CST on Saturday, with the Super Production class race taking place on Sunday at 14:17 CST.
