Honda rejoin the fray as the CTCC returns to mainland China this weekend

The fifth round of the China Touring Car Championship gets underway this weekend at Guangdong International Circuit, with Dong Feng Honda Racing rejoining the field after missing South Korea to battle with Kia and championship leaders Ford.

Andy Yan heads into the weekend with a five point lead in the drivers’ standings for the Changan Ford FRD Team ahead of Kia Racing’s Jason Zhang Zhi Qiang, with Zhang’s Kia team-mate Jim Ka To in third just 11 points behind Yan.

In the manufacturers’ championship, Kia enjoy a three point lead over Changan Ford, while Honda return after a planned absence in South Korea, with the JAS Motorsport developed Honda Civic saloon back on the grid as well as the Haima Z1 Racing team, who also chose to skip Korea.

In the Super Production Cup class, the Shanghai VW333 Racing team have a healthy lead in the standings with Zhang Zhen Dong leading the points table. The Volkswagen Polo-equipped team will again be fighting off the Teamwork Motorsport Citroën C-Elysées this weekend of Alex Hui and Sunny Wong, with their cars now carrying a new upgrade package, as well as the Mazda6 of Ruixi MZ Racing.
