Henry Ho claims pole position in Shanghai

Henry Ho of Dongfeng Honda Racing qualified first in the qualifying session for the sixth round of the 2015 CTCC season at the Shanghai International Circuit. Leo Yi Hong Li and Jason Zhang Zhi Qiang qualified second and third respectively for Kia Racing.

The performance of the two Dongfeng Honda Racing’s drivers were poles apart, with Henry Ho’s best lap of 1:58.497 grabbing him his second pole position in the 2015 season, while team-mate Martin Xie was 3.012 seconds behind him and will start from the last position.

Despite the satisfying performance of Leo Yi Hong Li and Jason Zhang Zhi Qiang, Kia Racing’s two other drivers – Jim Ka To and Larry Lin Le Feng – qualified sixth and eighth respectively.

Changan Ford FRD Racing seemed inferior when comparing with Honda and Kia factory teams, with Gao Hua Yang the best placed for the blue oval marque in fourth, with team-mates Rainey He, Darryl O’Young and Andy Yan qualifying fifth, seventh and 12th.

Haima Z1 Racing had a low-key qualifying session, with Andy Zheng, Chen Xu and He Zi Xian qualifying from ninth through 11th places.

In the Super Production Cup class, the two Teamwork Motorsport Citroën C-Elysées of Sunny Wong and Alex Hui qualified in the first two spots, with Zhang Zhen Dong third for Shanghai VW 333 Racing.

The CTCC Super Production race is scheduled for 12:55 CST on Sunday, with the Cup class at 13:40.
