Alex Hui takes his first career win in the CTCC in Zhuhai

Alex Hui won his first career race in the China Touring Car Championship Super Cup 2.0T at the Zhuhai International Circuit, driving the privateer Citroën C-Elysée to victory ahead of the two international entries of Dan Wells and Julio Acosta.

At the start of the race, Rodolfo Avila assumed the lead in the Shanghai VW 333 Racing Volkswagen Lamando ahead of pole-sitter Rainey He’s Ford Focus, with both drivers opting to start on wets in the slippery conditions, but Hui, who’d qualified third, opted to start the race on slicks and soon passed Avila for the lead, who’d eventually fall down the order to finish in seventh position.

Dan Wells put on a strong performance after qualifying a lowly 16th to finish second in the Changan Ford FRD Team Focus, also opting to start the race on slick tyres and powered through the field, while Colombian driver Julio Acosta also took a great result on his CTCC debut to finish third in the Linky Racing Audi A3.

Sunny Wong was fourth in the sister Citroën C-Elysée to Hui of Teamwork Motorsport, with Lo Ka Chun finishing as the best placed of the Volkswagens in fifth.

In the Super Cup 1.6T class, Henry Ho took victory in the Dongfeng Honda Civic, taking the lead in the reversed grid following a mechanical issue for early race leader Larry Lin’s Kia K3.
