Zou Si Rui wins for Honda in Shanghai from the reversed grid

Zou Si Rui took his fourth victory in the China Touring Car Championship’s Super Cup 1.6T class, surging forward from the reversed grid in the JAS Motorsport-developed Honda Civic to finish almost six seconds clear of Kia’s Jason Zhang.

Pole-sitter Sun Zheng retired on the first lap in his Mazda Atenza, with Zou Si Rui carving his way forward in short order to take a comfortable victory ahead of his Honda team-mate Martin Xie’s chief championship rival Jason Zhang.

Zhang’s second place wasn’t good news for Honda though, with the Kia driver now level on points with Xie heading to tomorrow’s race.

Macau driver Henry Ho finished third for Honda, with the Kia of Jim Ka To fourth ahead of Xie, with Larry Lin Le Feng sixth for Kia ahead of Yuan Bo, with Chen Zhao the last classified finisher for Mazda in the diminished 1.6T class.

The second race will take place at 12:45 CST on Sunday.
