Kleinubing takes first win of season

Florida driver Pierre Kleinubing took his first win of the year in his Acura TSX, moving up from third and finishing ahead of four Mazda’s headed by Tri-Point Motorsports Charles Espenlaub at the line.

Kleinubing started third after qualifying third, but starting ahead of slower cars as the top 5 in qualifying were reversed, meaning Canadian team mate Kuno Wittmer actually started from pole position.

The four time Speed World Challenge Touring Car champion was relieved after a 16 race break between victories.

“This is a big weight off my shoulders,” Kleinubing said. “I’m glad I still can do it. I was a little worried that [team owner] Peter [Cunningham] was going to fire me after this season. Hopefully, he’ll keep on for a few more.”
