New regulations in immediate effect

The SCCA World Challenge Touring Car Series will switch to the Touring Car 2 class regulations for 2010 as a cost reduction measure.

The regulations will enforce many stock components within the chassis, suspension & braking systems.

Existing ‘Touring Car 1’ specification cars will effectively be downgraded to be compliant with the TC2 specification.

The TC2 class was launched in June, with only three cars competing in the class all season – none at the same events – using the Subaru Legacy, Scion tC & Mazda RX-8.

Competition Director Neil Hannemann said
“We had numerous discussions with our Touring Car teams in the offseason before determining this to be the best course of action, the return to a more showroom stock-type preparation brings the class back to its roots and what it was designed to be. The feedback from competitors thus far has been positive.”

Full specifications for the class will be published before the end of 2009 in the 2010 SCCA Pro Racing Rulebook.
