Stout takes his first victory
Robert Stout has won the Touring class race at Long Beach for the DG-Spec Scion team.
Stout now leads the drivers standings with 350 points, from Eric Meyer’s XOWii Racing Mazda with 281.
Robert Stout also becomes World Challenge racing’s youngest winner, at 18 years of age.
“I felt like I got off to a decent start,” Stout said. “I worked my way around Nick [Wittmer] a lap or so after the start. I heard he had some problems over the radio. I knew I had a pretty good gap over second place at that point and I tried to take it as easy as I could.”
Nick Wittmer, who had started on pole, fell back with a flat tyre, but would recover to third in class in the HPD Honda Civic.
Eric Meyer brought his Mazda RX-8 home in second in class.
In the GTS class, McQuarrie comfortably won in his Lotus on his series debut, from Nick Esayian’s Acura TSX, and Michael Pettiford’s Chevrolet.
Charles Espanlaub continued to deputise for Patrick Dempsey, who was unable to make the race due to do being required for filming of TV series Greys Anatomy – and finished fourth in class in the Mazda3.
The next race is on May 23rd in Canada, at the Mosport International Raceway.
