Shaffer takes over from Gardner at Virginia
Greg Shaffer will be the third different driver in the No.36 Scion tC at Virginia International Raceway, as team owner/driver Dan Gardner steps aside for the meeting.
Scion’s Robert Stout currently leads the standings, whilst the No.36 tC is just behind the XOWii Racing Mazda RX-8 of Eric Meyer in the owner standings, and after Shaffer’s pace at Mosport in one of the Irish Mikes’ Jetta’s, team owner Gardner hopes Shaffer can help the car into the top two.
“He was quite fast at Mosport in the Jetta, and we think he’ll take well to our Scion,” said Gardner.
“I can’t wait to drive the DG-Spec Scion,” said Shaffer.
“They’re obviously the cars to beat in Touring Car this year, and it will be exciting to see what they’re all about. VIR is my home track, so I’m looking to defend my turf here in Virginia.”
