C360R announces World Challenge campaign
Compass360 Racing has announced it will compete in this year’s SCCA World Challenge series in the touring class with a pair of Honda Civic Sis for Lawson Aschenbach and Tom Ehlen.
The team, which won its classes in both the Grand-Am Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge (CTSCC) series and the Canadian Touring Car Championship last year, will add the World Challenge series to their roster of competitions this year running with a pair of Civics built by Honda Performance Development.
The car was driven in a number of rounds last season by Nick Wittmer and run by RealTime Racing, which have already confirmed they will return in the GTS class with their Acura TSXs for Peter Cunningham and Nick Esayian for the 2011 World Challenge season.
2010 CTSCC Street Tuner class champion Aschenbach will drive the No.71 car, with Tom Ehlen racing in the No.72 entry in the 12 round championship which kicks off at the end of this month in St. Petersburg.
“I’m thrilled to be working with Ray (Lee) and Karl (Thomson) and the Compass360 team again this year,” said Aschenbach.
“We had a great run together in 2010 and we’ll try to continue that in WC.”
“We owe a lot to all of our partners who helped put this program together,” said Team Principal Karl Thomson.
“It wouldn’t have happened without Lee Niffenegger and the folks at HPD, our technical partners Skunk2, Ultimate Racing, Stoptech, WPC, or without Gord and Ross Bentley at Speed Secrets.”
