Andy Yan takes his first pole at Tianma

Andy Yan has claimed his first pole position of 2011 in the Super Production class at the Shanghai Tianma Shan circuit for Chang’an Ford FRD.

The qualifying was divided into two sessions due to the smaller size of the circuit.

Andy Yan, in the first qualifying session, st the best time with a lap of 1:08.841.

Yan’s Ford team-mate Rainey He and Volkswagen’s Gao Hua Yang qualified second and third, and were also in the first session.

The second qualifying session was hit by rain, meaning the pace setter in that session, Wang Rue, only qualified tenth overall with a best lap of 1:14.639.
