The CTCC heads to Ordos for Round 4
The fourth round of China Touring Car Championship will be held this weekend at the Ordos International Circuit in China.
The Chang’an Ford FRD team has currently won two rounds already this year at Shanghai and Chengdu, with drivers Andy Yan and Jiang Tengyi taking the two wins for the team. They will both be eager to win at Ordos, though they have a tougher task ahead of them with a heavy increase in ballast in the team’s Ford Focuses this weekend.
The Shanghai VW 333 Racing Team have already had a tough start before the weekend has even beun, with an accident for one of their transporters heading into Ordos, which had seen serious damage to their Polo 1.6Ts and spare parts. The team are still hopeful of a strong weekend however, following the victory of Han Han at Round Two.
There was the possibility that Kia 778 Autosport were going to debut a new car with a 1.6 litre turbocharged engine this weekend, based on the Kia K2 (known as the Kia Rio in other parts of the world), but this is now to be delayed to the next round of the championship according to Weibos.
G Racing will probably the only privateer team to watch in this round, following the departure of GDTV TSB racing and their Hondas, which leaves the Chevrolet Cruze equipped team as the dominant independent operation. G Racing will also have a new driver this weekend, with Zhang Sheng Jun, a power drifting driver from Taiwan, officially replacing Mike Law at the team.
The qualifying will be held at 16:50 (local time) on Saturday July 7th.
