Andy Yan takes pole position in delayed Ordos qualifying

Andy Yan has claimed pole position for the fourth round of the CTCC at the Ordos International Circuit. Yan’s team-mate Jiang Tengyi will start second, with Kia Racing’s Huang Chu Han third.

With the absence of DHRT (Dong Feng Honda Racing Team) as well as the two Chevrolet privateer teams G Racing and ASR da Marco, the qualifying session was a three team battle between Chang’an Ford FRD Team, Shanghai VW 333 Racing and Kia Racing.

The qualifying session had been delayed to 9:50am due to some changes in the schedule following the cancellation of all running on Saturday for emergency repairs to the track.

Andy Yan dominated the qualifying session with a time of 1:52.705 in his Chang’an Ford Team’s Ford Focus. His team-mate Jiang Tengyi qualified second just over half a second down, with Huang Chu Han third in the Kia K2. Huang split the Ford drivers, with Rainey He and Martin Xie fourth and fifth fastest. Zhang Zhen Dong was the highest placed VW driver in this session in sixth position.

The CTCC Super Production race will be held at 14:20 local time on Sunday afternoon.
