Andy Yan leads Changan Ford FRD Team 1-2-3-4 in Nanjing

Andy Yan won their first Super Cup 2.0T race at the Nanjing Wantrack Circuit for Changan Ford FRD Team, team-mates Martin Cao, Rainey He and Dan Wells.

The first two laps of this race were led by the safety car due to the rainy conditions. At the start, Dan Wells was passed by his three Chinese team-mates, with Rainey He having a brief clash with Martin Cao on lap eight and falling to fourth, but he recovered to third in the latter part of the race.

Ford’s major rival Shanghai VW 333 Racing had a very different race. Zheng Zhen Dong and Jiang Tengyi were the highest placed finished for the German marque in the race, finishing in seventh and eighth in the new Volkswagen Lamando, which secures them the front row for the reversed grid first second race.

The BAIC Senova Racing team had a race to forget with its Senova D60 CCs, driven by Juan Carlos Zhu and David Zhu, but retiring on lap five with mechanical issues.

Teamwork Motorsport had a strong run, with Alex Hui and Sunny Wong finishin in fifth and sixth in the team’s Citroën C-Elysée, two places ahead of the Mercedes C260 of Star Racing’s Tan You Zi.

In the Super 1.6T Cup race, Jim Ka To led the Kia Racing team to a 1-2 finish ahead of team-mate Jason Zhang, while Dongfeng Honda Racing Team’s Martin Xie finished third in the new Honda Civic FC.

The race wasn’t without drama as Jim spun around his team-mate and pole-sitter Leo Yi Hong Li, who would fail to finish the race, with just six cars crossing the finish line.
