James Nash wins Race 2 at the Guangdong International Circuit

James Nash won the fourth race of the 2017 China Touring Car Championship at Guangdong, moving into the lead at the start from second on the grid and controlling the race in his Changan Ford FRD Team Ford Focus.

The British driver, entered as the team’s international wild card this weekend, scored Ford’s first win of the season, taking the lead from Haima Z1 Racing’s He Zi Yian at the start, while Ford team-mate Martin Cao completed the podium.

Cao defended hard throughout the race to keep the position ahead of the BAIC Senova D60 of David Zhu.

Race 1 winner Jason Zhang retired on lap 14 in his Kia K3S while running in fifth, handing the Ford Focus of Andy Yan the position near the end of the race.

The Shanghai VW 333 Racing Volkswagen Lamando of Rodolfa Avila was sixth, just ahead of the BAIC Senova of Darryl O’Young who’d recovered from the back of the field in the Senova D60, finishing ahead of team-mate Juan Carlos Zhu.

Jiang Tengyi was ninth in the second-best of the Volkswagens, with Race 1 pole-sitter Alex Fontana recovering from last to finish the second race in tenth position.

The next round of the China Touring Car Championship takes place on June 25th at the Jun Chi circuit.
