Martin Cao leads Changan Ford 1-2-3 in the second race at Guiyang

Changan Ford FRD Team’s Martin Cao took his first win of the season, and the second for the team, leading team-mates James Nash and Rainey He in the second race of the day at the Guizhou Chun Chi circuit.

Shanghai VW 333 Racing’s Wang Rue started from pole position, but was passed by both the BAIC Senova D60 of David Zhu and the Haima M6 of Tomas Engström at the start, with Engström leading the race in the early stages.

Davit Zhu’s race ended on lap four with contact from Wang, with Zhu forced to the pits to retire with damage, while Wang lost ground and would go on to finish down in eighth.

Cao overtook Engström for the lead mid-race, with the Swedish driver unable to hold off the Fords of Nash and Rainey, with both drivers moving into the final podium positions.

Engström finished fourth, followed by Dan Lloyd in the BAIC Senova, with Macau’s Rodolfo Avila the highest-placed Volkswagen driver in the race in sixth.

Juan Carlos Zhu was seventh in his BAIC Senova, followed by pole-sitter Wang Rue, with Kia’s Yuan Bo and Haima’s He Xi Yian completing the top ten.

The next round of the China Touring Car Championship takes place at the Shanghai Tianma Circuit on July 9th.
