Zheng Zhen Dong leads Volkswagen 1-2 in Shanghai qualifying

Shanghai VW 333 Racing driver Zheng Zhen Dong has taken pole position for the third round of the China Touring Car Championship at the Shanghai Tianma Circuit, leading team-mate Jiang Tengyi by three-tenths of a second, with Martin Xie’s Kia Racing K3 third fastest.

Behind the top three, Chen Xu was the best placed of the Haima Z1 Racing entries, just over half a second back in the Haima M6, with Jason Zhang’s Kia fifth fastest.

David Zhu was the best-placed of the BAIC Senovas in sixth, with Rainey He the fastest of the Changan Ford FRD Team drivers in seventh, leading team-mate Andy Yan.

Rodolfo Avila was ninth fastest in the Volkswagen Lamando GTS, with Wang Rue tenth, with all four of the Volkswagens in the top ten.

Championship leader Martin Cao was 12th fastest, while there are no international drivers in the race this weekend, with the majority taking part in the TCR International Series race weekend at Oschersleben, with FRD’s James Nash currently joint-second in the standings with Rainey He.
