Norbert Nagy on pole position for Most season finale

Norbert Nagy took his third pole position in a row in a fiercely-battled qualifying session for the European Touring Car Cup at Most, Czech Republic. The Hungarian will start alongside fellow championship contender Christjohannes Schreiber, the Honda driver was as little as 0.001s faster than championship leader Petr Fulín’s SEAT.

Nagy set his best lap with just four minutes to go, sneaking it away from Schreiber. Fulín had also briefly led the session, replacing eventual fourth-placed Plamen Kralev’s Audi at the top of the timesheets. Championship contender Igor Stefanovski went no further than fifth in his SEAT, sharing the row with former Lema Racing team-mate Fabio Mota.

Peter Rikli could not keep up with the strong form he had shown earlier in the weekend and will start seventh in his Honda Civic TCR ahead of Volkswagen’s Vaclav Nimc. Mladen Lalusic qualified in ninth place in his SEAT, ahead of Petr Fulín Jr. who completes the top ten.

The session also slightly changed the situation in the title fight, as Schreiber and Nagy are now tied on points, five shy of Fulín, with Stefanovski a further four adrift.

The first race will start tomorrow at 10:50 local time.
