Rob Huff takes pole position at the Wuhan street circuit

British driver Rob Huff has taken pole position for the latest round of the China Touring Car Championship at the Wuhan street circuit, topping the times in his SAIC VW333 Racing Lamando by just three-tenths of a second ahead of the Kia of Leo Yi Hong Li.

Huff lapped the track with a time of 1:06.719 to take his third pole position in a row in the CTCC Super Cup class, while Leo Yi Hong Li was just 0.017 seconds off the pace in his Kia K3 2.0T.

Huff’s pole scores him five points in the drivers’ championship, which moves him from to joint-fifth on 79 points with Juan Carlos Zhu in the BAIC Senova.

Third on the grid is Huff’s Volkswagen team-mate Rodolfo Avila, who was three quarters of a second down in his Lamando GTS, while Rainey He was fourth fastest in the Changan Ford FRD Focus, ahead of Jim Ka To’s Kia.

Jiang Tengyi, Volkswagen’s best-placed driver in the championship was sixth, with Juan Carlos Zhu seventh in the BAIC Senova and Martin Cao, in the Ford, eighth.

The Kia of CTCC returnee Martin Xie was ninth, just ahead championship leader David Zhu in his BAIC Senova, 1.4 seconds from Huff’s time.

Race 1 is 19 laps and is due to get underway at 14:13 CST (07:13 CET).
