Mat’o Homola secures DG Sport drive

DG Sport Compétition has announced the signing of Mat’o Homola for the inaugural season of the FIA World Touring Car Cup.

The young Slovak driver raced for the team in the TCR International Series and in TCR Benelux last year, and will partner Aurélien Comte – who was confirmed in the first seat earlier this week.

Homola has already been able to test the Peugeot 308 TCR he will race this season and admitted he was delighted to have secured a spot on the WTCR grid.

“I’m crazy excited with the new challenge and I’m happy to continue driving for DG Sport Compétition,” he said. “I know the team; they are experienced, they work hard and are fully motivated to achieve great results, just like me.

“I had the chance to test the new Peugeot 308 TCR and it definitely exceeded my expectations; it has good handling and a powerful engine. I’m also super excited about the cooperation we are going to have with the Peugeot Sport, which developed the car and they did a great job. I believe we have a very good package with lot of potential to win races!”

Team principal Christian Jupsin was pleased to confirm Homola’s return and expressed confidence that his new-look line-up would be a strong pairing on track.

“I’m truly pleased to renew the challenge with Mat’o and I thank him for the trust he placed in us,” he said. “Last year the team were able to appreciate his professionalism, his enthusiasm and his enormous motivation. He’s a fighter, a winner, a real racer!

“We believe that with him, Aurélien Comte and the Peugeot 308TCR we have everything for claiming top results in WTCR.”
