Ryan Eversley extends championship lead with Lime Rock victory

Ryan Eversley claimed the first win of the World Challenge weekend at Lime Rock to extend his championship lead in a red flagged race.

The Honda driver started from pole position and kept the lead throughout the race, despite a safety car session that started on lap three.

The safety car was brought out on track due to clash between Eversley’s team-mate Adam Merzon and Audi driver JT Coupal. The collision sent Coupal into the barriers and into retirement.

The red flags came out with three minutes left of the race due to a crash in the TCA class.

Eversley won the World Challenge Touring Car class ahead of Bryan Herta Autosport team-mates Mark Wilkins and Michael Lewis.

Three Volkswagen drivers fought for fourth position with FCP Euro by HRD driver Michael Hurczyn coming out on top ahead of Mason Filippi of FTP and Bryan Ortiz of Copeland Motorsports.

Audi drivers Jerimy Daniel and Matt Fassnacht rounded off the top eight.

Eversley heads the standings by ten points ahead of Wilkins and 22 points ahead of Lewis in third.

The second race of the day starts at 21:35 CET.
