Attila Tassi given ten-place penalty for Code 60 violation
Attila Tassi has been handed a ten-place penalty for violating the Code 60 put out in respect of the crashed Cupra of Daniel Haglöf in qualifying, but the stewards have decided to apply the penalty to the second race, which means he drops from third to 13th on the grid.
The 20-year-old Hungarian had set his best qualifying result of eighth, which applies to the third race of the weekend on Saturday afternoon, while he’d benefit from the top ten reversed grid for Race 2 earlier in the day by starting third behind Johan Kristoffersson’s Volkswagen and Antti Buri’s Audi.
However, following an investigation, Tassi has been penalised, and will drop ten places on the grid for the next race, Race 1, where he qualified in 21st position, prior to Priaulx and Vernay’s grid penalties for a similar infraction.
UPDATE: This article was updated as the FIA originally specified the penalty would apply for Race 2, but it’s now been confirmed he will serve his penalty in Race 1, in accordance with the sporting regulations.
