Michael McCann Jr nets second straight pole in Road America qualifying

There seems to be no stopping Michael McCann Jr who claimed pole position at in the TC America qualifying session at Road America today, following a dominating previous race weekend at Watkins Glen where he claimed pole and two victories.

The McCann racing driver put his Audi RS 3 LMS on pole by close to half a second ahead of VGMC Racing driver Victor Gonzalez, who lapped the circuit in 2:19.803 with his Honda Civic Type R FK8 TCR.

The FCP Euro duo of Nate Vincent and Michael Hurczyn claimed positions three and four, six and nine tenths of a second from the pole time respectively in their pair of Volkswagen Golf GTI TCRs.

James Walker claimed position five in his Alfa Romeo Giulietta TCR but was almost three seconds behind McCann Jr’s pole time for Risi Competizione.

Bryan Putt of Bsport Racing claimed sixth position on the grid in his Audi RS 3 LMS DSG, heading manufacturer colleague Christian Cole who was seventh fastest as the last TCR specification car, over 7.5 seconds from pole.

The session was halted once due to a red flag caused by a car from the TCA Class

The first race of the weekend starts at 16:05 local time.
