Fernando Alonso: “It would be an honour to race in Super TC 2000”
Fernando Alonso performed a test for Super TC 2000 team Toyota Gazoo Racing in Buenos Aires and stated that he is interested in taking part in the series.
“It would be an honor to take part in an important race as the one in Buenos Aires of the Super TC 2000,” said Alonso to clarin.com.
The double Formula 1 champion went to Argentina as part of his preparations for the 2020 Dakar Rally with Toyota.
“I have unfortunately never raced in Argentina, but it is a very friendly place. The culture for motorsport is strong, I am still surprised by the passion for global motorsport here and that the local motorsport scene is so strong,” said Alonso.
Alonso drove a number of laps around the Autódromo de Buenos Aires Juan y Oscar Gálvez behind the wheel of current points leader Matías Rossi’s Toyota.
The Spaniard had never before tested a front-wheel driven touring car and started the test on wet tyres due to light rainfall, later changing to slicks as the track dried.
