Toyota confirm Hernán Palazzo as replacement for Mariano Altuna

Toyota Gazoo Racing Argentina has confirmed Hernán Palazzo as replacement for Mariano Altuna ahead of the 2020 Super TC 2000 season.

“Hernán Palazzo is one of the young drivers that we have always kept an eye on,” said Darío Ramonda, general director of the team.

“We felt that this was the right moment to get him to our team and we are confident that he can quickly demonstrate his capabilities as a driver.”

Palazzo got the call as Altuna unexpectedly left the team due to “last minute differences”.

The 20-year-old finished third overall in the 2019 Turismo Carretera Mouras and won the 2017 Formula Renault 2.0 Argentina series.

“I am fortunate for this opportunity that comes my way and I want to make the most of it,” said Palazzo.

“I want to thank Daniel Herrero and Darío Ramonda who have trusted me with this enormous responsibility to join the best motorsport team in the region. My only goal now is to have a quick adjustment to the new Toyota.”

Palazzo will also race in the TopRace series for Toyota.
