Esteban Guerrieri: “I feel disappointed with my performance”

Esteban Guerrieri had, just as his title rival Yann Ehrlacher, a tough qualifying session for the World Touring Car Cup weekend in Spain.

The Münnich Motorsport driver, who is second in the drivers’ championship, will start 19th in all three races.

“I feel disappointed with my performance, but tomorrow is another day and we will fight again,” said Guerrieri.

“There was a sequence of events in qualifying that didn’t work out and I don’t think it was my best performance, even though our potential is not brilliant this weekend due to the compensation weight we are carrying.”

Team-mate Néstor Girolami was the only Honda driver making it to the second qualifying session and will start eleventh.

“From my side it was a very good qualifying session, and I feel I extracted everything we have available this weekend,” said Girolami.

“It’s a shame for Esteban that we couldn’t get him into Q2, but we will do all we can to help him fight for the championship. A big thank you again to all the mechanics; the Honda feels great to drive here, there’s just not a lot in our control we can do to improve our position.”
