Esteban Guerrieri: “Frustrating not to fully exploit the chances we’ve had”

Esteban Guerrieri is placed sixth overall after the first two FIA World Touring Car Cup race weekends of 2021 and left the most recent round at Estoril frustrated over missed chances.

The Münnich Motorsport driver started from pole in the main race but had an issue with his Honda Civic Type R TCR just as the lights went to green, losing vital ground to finish eighth.

“It’s been a bit frustrating not to fully exploit the chances we’ve had at the opening two rounds, so this weekend it will be especially important to do so as we should expect a more difficult event,” said Guerrieri.

Guerrieri, along with his three Honda team-mates, will carry 70kg more weight in this weekend’s races at MotorLand Aragón compared to the first two rounds.

“Aragon was a tough track for the Honda Civic Type R TCR last year, but we have done plenty of learning since then and feel like we have a very good understanding of the car this season,” said Guerrieri.

“The parameters will also be the same as they were on our first visit last year in that we are carrying the maximum compensation weight, so that will be a good reference to see how much we’ve improved.”
