Jens Weimann has secured his first ADAC Procar Division 1 drivers’ title after taking an unprecedented 12th win from 12 races at the Lausitzring, winning the title two race weekends early.
The 35-year-old from Preetz secured pole position and romped to two victories ahead of his only full season rival in the series’ Division 1 class for Super 2000 cars, Paul Green, both driving ex-WTCC BMW 320si E90s.
Markus Huggler joined the action this weekend and took a pair of third place finishes in a privately entered BMW 320i E46, the only other car in the S2000 class at the circuit.
In the S1600 Division 2 class, Guido Thierfelder had his worst weekend of the season in his ETH Tuning Peugeot 207, taking a pair of fourth place finishes after having won nine of the ten races prior to this weekend.
Liqui Moly Team Engstler’s Lennart Marioneck took both wins in his Ford Fiesta, whilst last year’s Division 2 champion Nils Mierschke remains in mathematical contention for the title after taking second in race two following a DNF in race one. Mierschke is 31 points behind Thierfelder with 40 remaining from the final two races at the Nürburgring and Hockenheim.
